Summary

The Asia Smart City Conference, established in 2012, brings together representatives from Asian cities, national governments, international organizations, academic institutions, and private companies aiming to discuss the realization of a sustainable city where economic growth and a favorable urban environment are compatible. Recognizing this importance, the City of Yokohama and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) signed a memorandum of understanding in 2013 to promote cooperation toward bringing sustainable solutions for city management and urban infrastructure development in developing countries.

Against this backdrop, ADBI continues our collaboration with ADB and the City of Yokohama, to organize the 12th Asia Smart City Conference. The 3-day conference will feature business matching opportunities and shared knowledge on smart city solutions. As a part of the conference, an ADBI-ADB joint session will be conducted on the topic of “City Management toward Achieving Carbon Neutrality” in the context of the development of smart cities. The session will highlight policy recommendations for building climate-resilient and zero-carbon cities among the representatives of ADB member countries, city governments, and academia for achieving decarbonization and the Sustainable Development Goals.
