Japan Fund for Public Policy Training
What is the fund?
The Japan Fund for Public Policy Training was established in 2004 as a trust fund to enhance developing member countries' capacity building for public policy management focusing on Asian economies in transition.
What are the priorities?
Priority is placed on providing regional technical assistant (RETA) to transition economies such as Cambodia, the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR), and Viet Nam.
What kind of activities will be financed from the fund?
The key activities of the RETA include:
- implementation of core competency courses in public policy for mid-career and senior-level civil servants of Viet Nam;
- introduction of similar courses in Cambodia and the Lao PDR;
- a fellowship program to send outstanding candidates for formal degree courses overseas; and
- a teaching support component to develop case studies and best practice cases and other learning materials with national and regional content.
Who is eligible to receive the grant?
Cambodia, the Lao PDR, and Viet Nam.

Japan supports the fund.
