- Asia and the Pacific are highly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change, which threatens both economic and social development. As the climate bank of Asia and the Pacific, the Asian Development Bank has committed to scaling up mitigation and adaptation measures through developing innovative financing mechanisms and building climate resilient societies. Therefore, it is imperative to build climate and disaster resilience while also developing low-carbon technologies to abate greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and mitigate climate change. ADB and ADBI are co-organizing a series of regional workshops to build understanding of how to design integrated climate policies and better align countries’ long-term strategies (LTS) and nationally determined contributions (NDCs). Other workshop modules will focus on climate adaptation and resilience and defining and tracking climate finance. ADBI’s module on accelerating private sector investment to respond to climate change will highlight the role of the private sector in meeting climate objectives, and the main channels through which it can contribute.
